What Is A Razor Burn: Razor burn can be described as a skin irritation or razor rash that occurs soon after an area has been shaved with a razor. It can appear as a red rash and produces a burning sensation. Often, it gets itchy and swollen, too.

Razor burns are quite common with men who shave their faces regularly. Women can also get razor burns when they are shaving unwanted hair from their armpits, legs, and bikini areas.

What Causes Razor Burn: It can be caused by several reasons, such as shaving dry, using a dull blade, sensitive skin or unconditioned skin.

In this article, you will find how you can prevent razor burn and also information about several razor burn treatments and remedies.

How To Prevent Razor Burn

1. Give Time To Your Skin To Heal: After use of razor on your skin every time, allow some time to your skin to recover and heal the wounded portion. If you use the razor on skin too frequently, your skin will not get time to heal and recover. So, do not attempt to shave twice in 2-3 days. Consider using razor after every 4-5 days.

2. Keep Your Razor Clean: Don’t use dirty razor on your skin, otherwise your skin will be susceptible to razor burn and if you are already having razor burn, its condition can get worsened.

3. Use A Sharp Razor: Don’t use a razor with dull blade to avoid razor burns.

4. Use Shaving Gel Or Cream: Apply shaving gel or cream to soften the area you want to shave. After applying shaving cream or gel wait for few minutes, and then use small and clean strokes to prevent the razor burn.

5. Splash Cold Water: After shaving with razor, rinse the area with cold water to seal the skin pores to get relief from burning.

6. Follow Natural Pattern: While shaving, try to follow your hair grown pattern. Never try to shave against the pattern, as it can lead to razor burn and razor bumps.
